Footprints at the hospital??

Anyone who has had a baby lately.... did they do his/her footprints at the hospital as a keepsake? We were told that they would, but they never did. We weren't sure if it was because he was in special care or what?!?! SO, we decided to try it ourselves....hahahaha! The only place that we could find washable, non toxic ink for this type of thing was Archiver's. We stopped at a variety of places to ask and no one had a such thing....we thought the hard part was over. Come to find out, putting your babies foot in ink and then having him cooperate while you try and stamp his foot on the paper was actually not as easy or as cute as it sounded! WOW! The feet we actually think turned out ok after much laughing! The hands.... well we won't actually even photo that!
It appears that one foot is bigger than the other. It just so happens that as we were stamping the first foot he decided to curl his toes and arch the foot.
Time for a bath to wash off the ink! He looks REAL thrilled!
After bath time which apparently was traumatic, he conked out on Dad's lap!
Closer look! Too funny!

We finally caved....

Ok, we finally caved in and it was WELL worth it. We got a rocker for the bedroom. I was trying to get away w/o getting one because I think the room is small enough as it is. I didn't want another big ole piece of furniture in there... After 3 weeks of having him fall asleep after his middle of the night feedings only to wake up because of the short walk from the living room back into his bedroom did we decide to say screw it!!! One piece of advice... if you are pregnant (Jenny, I am talking to you...haha), do not wait, order it NOW. We had to get the one below because the color and fabric that we did want would take 14-16 weeks to order. YES WEEKS! WHAT? Nico would be talking and walking by then and I would be in the nut house! Clearly the cats approve!
Ummm... hello? Aren't you supposed to sit in the chair and then rock ME?

My First Scratch

It doesn't really look like you can tell from this picture...but here is the first scratch on his face from his nails :( Looks like Mom and Dad need to clip them!

Wiggler!

This is how I found Nico this morning when I went in to get him at 8:00am! Mario had fed him and put him back to sleep about 6:30am prior to going to work. That little foam contraption is supposed to keep him situated. We can adjust it to fit, which we have done. Nico is such a squirmer that he kicks himself right out of it. Geez! Look how tired he looks from all that work!

Happy Easter!

We celebrated Easter at Auntie Joann and Uncle Rick's house on Sunday. Lots of fun, lots of food and lots of lovin' for Nico who hadn't met a lot of his family yet!

Tuesday was Mario's last day off from his 3 week paternity leave! Wow did the time go by so fast. We decided to get out of the house and what better place to go but the Mall Of America....Ha! We figured we would get through Southdale or Eden Prairie Center in about 30 minutes so why not make a day out of it and go to the big one! We left the house around 11:00 and got home about 2:30!
Here is Mario dreaming about the day Nico can go on rides with him at the new Nickelodeon Adventure Park.

JoAnn's 70th B-day Party!

Last Saturday night Mario and I went on our first outing w/o Nico! It was our friend JoAnn's surprise 70th birthday party at Lord Fletcher's. Boy oh Boy was she surprised! We stayed out for 3 1/2 hours and didn't call home once... we figured that the Grandparent's had it all under control, which they did.
Surprise!!!!

Misc Nico shots!

LOVES to get wrapped in his blanket!
Wide awake...
Grrrrr, isn't his little lion bath robe cute??? Thanks Molly! Someday he will fit into it. Update- now that his cord fell off we can completely submerge him in the bath water which he now enjoys. When his cord was attached and we had to sponge bathe him and he hated it. I do not miss the screaming!!!

Mario plays Mr. Mom

So on Tuesday evening I got to go OUT!! So where did I end up...hmmmm, of course MAINSTREET! I had a few beers, played Mingo and came home. It was nice to chit chat with the girls (and Joe) over a cold brew! Oh and I only called home to check in once! Of course Mario had everything under control.

I returned home about 8:20 and fell right asleep on the couch... looks like I was the only one sleeping! Good to see Bella finally sharing!

Nana's, Great-Grandpa's, and Grandma's, Oh My!

We got a visit from my mom and Grandpa and Grandma Baregi last week. Nico is one of seven great-grandkids on the Baregi side of the family. As soon as Grandpa held Nico, he told him that he would teach him all of the 'good' Italian words. Yeah, just like he taught me. I know some good ones too, Grandpa. Feccia! He also told him 'silencio'. I'm sure we'll have to use that one in the future!
Grandma Gina finally gets a chance to hold Nico

Hey, I'll teach you how to talk back to your mommy in Italian so she has no clue what you are saying!

Wow, where does the time go?

Wow, time sure does escape us! I can't believe that Mario has 3 weeks off and half of it is gone already. Where does the time go? What have we done for a week and a half? Today we had Nico's 2 week check up. He will be two weeks old on Wednesday. Nico gained 9 ounces in one week and weighs in at 8lbs! The doc was pleased and so were his parents since feeding this kid has been challenging!!! We don't go back now until he is 2 months old. Doc said at that time he will have some surprises for Nico...does that mean shots???
