The Two Month Check Up :(
We recently had Nico's two month well check. Thank GAWD it was on a day that Mario had off so he could go with since our little man had to endure 5 shots to the leg, given one at a time. When the first needle went in his leg and he didn't cry I thought we were somehow miraculously in the clear. Ummm no it just hadn't registered in his little brain what had happened until needle #2 was inserted. Then we experienced his face turning the brightest red I have ever seen in my life. Next, Nico cried (screamed at the top of his lungs), I cried....UGH, it was awful. So the stats- Weight 11 3/4 lbs = 74%, Height 23 1/2 inc = 88% (where does that come from??), Head Circum 15 1/2 inc = 54%...

Just A Small Overreaction, My Dear
I was enjoying the sunny drive at work today when I received a phone call from my wife. As stated in the post below, she tells me of the killer dog two houses down. My first reaction was a small bit of fear for my child and cats. I was already imagining the shouting matches between myself and the neighbors should said dog pose a threat to my family. Ok, I know you are all thinking 'This is Mario...when does he get into any confrontations??' Well, the instinct to protect is a very strong one. The rap sheet on Pit Bulls is a long and scary one, and I don't want to be in the 'A' section for anything like that. I don't like to generalize about one type of dog, but there is too much proof to not be a little bit apprehensive. So, tonight, as I am helping change a particularly messy diaper, the culprit comes out of the neighbor's house and circles his yard (on a chain). He's big. However, I am lead to believe that this guy is just a pup. He has a very young face. So, I decide to test the waters and go outside, since Traci said that he just snapped while she and the fam were in the yard. I walk out on the deck towards him. He just stares at me. I go down the steps and pretend I am reeling in the hose. More stares. I walk to the edge of our yard, the closest point to him. I talk to him. More blank looks. I walk back towards the house telling Traci that maybe he senses I like animals :) Then, a bark. More barks. I turn around and he is wagging his tail and barking. He wants a chat with me is all. He seems pretty friendly and minds his owners. I'm guessing he's like any other pup and wants to play and check out other animals, no matter how loud his bark may be. In conclusion, I think he is just a very curious puppy that wants to see what is in the neighborhood. He can see all he wants, as long as he's on his chain. He is still a Pit Bull and we don't want to be totally laid back about it.
Over Reacting?

Ok I need everyone's opinion. Today was a GORGEOUS day! There was nothing more that I wanted to do than sit outside. The cats have been whining and crying to go outside for two days and Nico has well, be plain just whining and crying!!! So I get Nico set up outside on his play mat, get the cats situated, have all that I need... sunglasses, cell phone, house phone, pacifier, two crinkle toys a burp rag a bottle of water and the cat brush.. all is well, the cats are staying in the yard for once, Nico is quiet enjoying the breeze blowing through his hair and my pasty skin is getting some much needed sun. Next up... worst nightmare... the door to the home two doors down from me which is a rental and just had new tenants move in, busts open and this F'ING snarling, growling, barking PITBULL comes barreling out with his beading F'ING eye's fixated on my darling cat Robbie who is enjoying the day!! I instantly freeze and so do my cats.. This dog is going nuts!!! All I can do is envision the chain breaking and the dog making a bee line for one of my precious cargo. I grab Nico, and yell at the poor cats to get inside... Oh don't forget.. now I have to grab all the sh*t that I brought out and bring it back in. So there I am with my cats and kid safely inside gathering all of my belongings and the dog is now fixated on me barking and growling and snarling with that leash about to bust! ARE YOU SERIOUS?? Are you SERIOUS?? Is this what I am going to be dealing with all summer? Let me answer that right now for you so you know... NO F'ING WAY!! There is no way in god's green earth that I am going to deal with this. I know, I know... some of you are thinking that I am generalizing because it is a Pitbull. This dog did not just come out side and trot around the yard and mind its own business, it saw us and was threatened and hostile! NOW I AM HOSTILE!!! Does anyone know if there are city ordinances against pits?? I see many a call to the Hopkins PD in my summertime future!!

Our Visit to North Carolina!!
Nico took his first airplane ride out to see the Davenport's (mom went with)... We had a great time visiting, shopping, eating and being outside! Thanks so much Davenport's for taking such good care of us, it was so much fun!
Mario saying goodbye to his baby! Actually he left the same time as we did in the morning to go play paint ball! I am sure he enjoyed 3 nights of uninterrupted sleep... LUCKY :)
Heading out.....
Thankfully Mr. Man slept the entire time to and from North Carolina... WOW! I was expecting the worst... what a pleasant surprise!
